In the summer of 2007, exactly one year before the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, the family members of the Shude faculty could finally move together and say goodbye to the tube-shaped apartments which were loaded with their sweet memories like a symphony of cooking utensils. They were going to move into the brand-new and unfamiliar residential quarters with their new hopes. As an unpopular club, the Mingcheng tug of war team is led by an unreliable coach named Lei Ming, who gathers eight newcomers with various personal motives to form a team on a whim, preparing them to compete in professional competitions. They suffer a devastating defeat in their first match and are ridiculed. Thus, they start the "rise from the ashes" battle, stumbling yet growing.
